Expected School-Wide Learning Results


1) Professional Learning CommunityAll teachers at Seaside High School are committed to working collaboratively in content specific teams to create common assessments, analyze student academic data, and provide appropriate interventions through re-teaching and reassessing for student mastery

  • Use performance data, grades, benchmark performance, and feedback to identify strengths and to monitor student progress
  • Use common formative and summative assessments to drive academic instruction and increase student achievement
  • Foster teacher leaders to continue to move forward the PLC initiative
  • Establish an accessible way for PLC groups to share findings and developments with the community


2) School-wide Behavior Expectations- All teachers and students will contribute to the highest quality education in a learning environment that is positive, safe, orderly, respectful and accountable for instructional minutes.

  • Examine alternative solutions to problems
  • Honor the diversity of ideas, people, and cultures
  • Engage in behaviors that reflect core values of respect, responsibility, and trust
  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and equity
  • Respect and care for the environment
  • Develop personal habits that promote lifelong wellness
  • Establish clear and current communication with all community stakeholders 

3) Instructional Focus- All Teachers at Seaside High School are responsible for implementing the Five Essential Practices including a focus on student engagement, clearly stated learning objective and language objective, rigorous standards based instruction, checking for understanding and/or responding to students’ instructional needs

  • Use clearly stated objectives, rigorous curriculum and bell to bell instruction to meet the needs of our diverse population
  • Effectively use instructional time to ensure access to curriculum and provide mastery for learning outcomes
  • Develop engaging lessons through the implementation of the Gradual Release of Responsibility lesson plan with an emphasis towards the implementation of the Common Core Standards


4) College and Career Readiness- All students will strive to attain the   A-G requirements to be eligible for a four year college/university or prepare for other forms of secondary academic experiences through lifelong learning, career and college counseling, successful academic exploration and experiences and communication.

  • Develop an academic and college-going culture to maximize career options for all students
  • Express ideas and opinions in both oral and written form
  • Use multiple media to communicate and express ideas
  • Use higher level thinking skills to ask questions and interpret, analyze, and evaluate information
  • Establish clear form of communication with parents and community members regarding all college and career options
